As a creative, I’m driven by three aims: Simplicity, Consistency and Joy.
I strive for simplicity, because great work should touch people’s emotions immediately and strongly. With opportunities to capture people’s attention and hearts becoming so fleeting these days, simplicity is paramount. Keep it simple, and your audience will love you for it.
I champion consistency, because strong work only reaches everywhere when it is expressed clearly and proudly, without the confusion of diversion. Think of consistency as simplicity’s protective older brother.
Finally, there’s Joy. One thing I know from my years of experience is it doesn’t matter if the work is deathly serious or fall-over funny -the only way to make sure the work is great is to enjoy making it. Joy is the driver of excellence and the oxygen of creativity.
